Gavin Herr

Director of Boys Lacrosse, Head Coach

Gavin is a Greenleaf Scholar graduate of Whittier College in '14. During and after his time in Whittier, Coach Herr worked as an Official in the Field and Indoor game. His coaching experience started as a Goaltender specialist and camp counselor at the Lorne Smith Lacrosse camp series for a total of 6 seasons. His post-collegiate resume includes coaching for 2 seasons at Pacific Collegiate School, both seasons making it to the PCAL Playoffs. He then transitioned to growing the youth game, head coaching the U-10 Redhawks for 2 spring seasons and multiple U12 and U10 summer teams.

Currently, he is the Head Coach at Live Oak High School as well as a NCLRA and USBOXLA official. He is still an active player, finding time on the field as a Palo Alto Duck and time in the Box with the Cali Buccs.

Rich Hubbel

Asssistant Offensive Coach

Rich started playing lacrosse in 2004 for the Morgan Hill Mavericks, an NCJLA team made up of Live Oak and Sobrato students. He played for UC Santa Barbara’s MCLA team in 2007-08, graduating from the university in 2011.

Rich began coaching in 2016 with the South County Outlaws. He has coached for their 10U and 12U tournament teams, camps, clinics, and NCJLA teams. Rich was also the head coach for Christopher High’s JV team from 2016-18, as well as assisting with Varsity. Now in 2022, he’s very excited to start working with the MoHi Lacrosse Club and is looking forward to a fun Summer season.

Max Tempel

Assistant Defensive Coach

Max Tempel graduated the University of Oregon in 2020. He has over 14 years of lacrosse experience split between field and box lacrosse, playing for the Cali Lax All Stars box team and winning a state championship his junior year with the South Valley Chiefs.

While attending college, he coached a local middle school team and then was the defensive coach at Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. Max is in his second season as the defensive coach at Pioneer High School. He is also an active player with the Palo Alto Ducks on the field and the Cali Buccs in the box.

Spencer Fogelquist

Assistant Offensive Coach

Spencer has been a part of lacrosse since 2008. He played competitive box and field lacrosse into his early 20’s. This allowed him to travel to Canada and Las Vegas to be able to compete and win a few championships. As a Box Lacrosse player, he has been a defensive specialist.

During high school, he started his 10 year officiating career where he officiated top level high school championships in Ohio, Colorado, and California. He started coaching varsity field lacrosse at Scotts Valley High School in 2013. In 2015 he was voted Coach of the year by the coaches of the Mountain Trail Athletic League (MTAL). In 2016 and 2017, his Falcons won the MTAL Championships in field lacrosse. During this time, he had also been a youth and high school club box lacrosse coach with Coach Herr, where we coached box fundamentals, and team based 2-man mechanics.

Hunter Stocksick

Assistant Defensive Coach

Hunter is a recent Alum of Live Oak High school where he played Varsity and captained the defensive unit. He is currently attending Westcliff Univerist and is a Captain on the lacrosse team.
